Description

This is a tintype photograph. Tintypes are thin metal with lacquer or enamel coating to hold the photographic emulsion. This particular tintype has a faint blush color added to the cheeks of the women. Four women from St. Helen's Hall pose together. The back of the photograph indicates that the two seated women are Ms. Carry Wilson and Emma Lewish, and the two women standing are Mary Morris and Annie Medford. A further inscription suggests that these women are the first to graduate St. Helen's Hall.
